All recent versions of the MacOS provide direct Finder-level access to the 'Convert' structure embedded in the operating system via the 'Context' menu. This workflow provides additional user export options not found in the QTX Player app. Simply select one or more source videos you wish to convert and then Control-Click the Finder icon to open the 'Context' menu as seen below:
Next select the 'Encode Selected Video Files' option as seen above to open the user 'Encode' settings window depicted below:
Selecting the 480p, 720p, or 1080p pop-up 'Setting' option will encode the selected file(s) as H.264/ACC M4V files. If the 'Encode for' pop-up is available, you may also select between the 'Greater compatibility' or 'Higher quality' menu options. (Note: The 'Higher quality' setting is the default setting used by the QTX Player app for export while the 'Greater compatibility' option encodes video content at half the default data rate creating a much smaller file.)

H.264/AAC compressed data is the same whether stored in MOV, M4V, or MP4 file containers. In most cases, user apps will process data having any of these file extensions interchangeably. In cases where an app is 'trapped' to only accept H.264/AAC data in an M4V file container, a user can simply change the '.mov' file extension to '.m4v' and the app will process the file in its normal manner. In cases where an app is actually programmed to tell the difference, it is possible to simply 're-mux' (i.e., copy) the original H.264/AAC data to a 'real' M4V (or MP4) file using a utility app like Subler.
